The Millennium Hilton Bangkok has opened a new treat for gourmands in the Thai capital with a dedicated Cheese Room at the hotel’s FLOW restaurant.

Erwin Vanderveen, Director of Food & Beverage, said, “We noticed that many food-lovers who frequent our award-winning restaurants and lounges request cheese, whether as a snack or as a dessert, but mainly more as a ‘social’ dish that creates a congenial mood for them to kickback and relax from a hectic day.”

“While the cheese room is common in Europe, the concept is just taking off in Asia. We thought it’s timely that we give this endearing ‘side-dish’ a dedicated spot in the heart of Bangkok.”

Overlooking the Chao Phraya’s tranquil waters, Hilton Millennium Bangkok’s Cheese Room is set in a specially designed climate-controlled dining room that is monitored by cheese experts to ensure the correct temperature for storage and quality of the cheese. On offer is not only one of the largest selections of cheeses in Bangkok, but also many of the best and most renowned cheeses in the world.

Cheese lovers can indulge in a tantalising mix of flavours and aromas from the assortment of imported cheeses; some of which include Pecorino di Fossa, a hard cheese from Italy; Reblochon de Savoie, a classic and unique soft cheese from Savoie, France; Colston Basset Stilton, a blue cheese from Nottinghamshire, England; and Brie Royale Aux Truffles, a very high-priced semi-firm cheese with truffles from France.

The Cheese Room also lives up to the age-old partnership between cheese and wine where the experienced wine and cheese butler can advise guests on choosing the right wine to bring out the natural characteristics of the cheese.

The special Wine Flight menu, consisting of five different wines from various international regions, has been selectively picked and prepared to complement the varied range of cheese.

“Cheese is a lot like wine. It takes an acquired palate to fully appreciate it and different combinations of food can dramatically alter the taste experience. As well as the cheeses and quality wines, our Cheese Room features exquisite condiments like artisan home-made jams, dried fruits and a selection of freshly baked breads to truly enhance the rich taste,” added Erwin Vanderveen.

The Cheese Room is opened on Fridays and Saturdays for dinner and the cheese selection is available at US$30 (THB 950++) per person. For guests dining at the Millennium Hilton Bangkok’s dinner buffet at FLOW restaurant, the buffet price of US$48 (THB 1500++) per person includes the cheese selection from the Cheese Room.

Guests can also enjoy the selection of wine available on the Wine Flight menu at US$20.50 (THB 650++) per bottle.
