Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur launches Showdown of Champions Promotion

On 18 November 2008 sports aficionados will experience a night of legendary tennis, when Kuala Lumpur plays host to the Showdown of Champions 2008. The event will feature tennis aces such as Bjorn Borg, John McEnroe, Roger Federer and either James Blake or Rafael Nadal. (dependent on the outcome of the forthcoming semi-final of the Davis Cup).

To enjoy the occasion in comfort, Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur has launched a Matchpoint promotion that features a host of benefits plus the chance to meet the champions in person. The package includes a one night stay, breakfast for two at the all-day dining Biba’s Café, and an hour of tranquil indulgence at The Spa at Mandarin Oriental with a special sports massage to revitalise and rejuvenate. The highlight of the package is tickets for two persons to the Showdown of Champions Kuala Lumpur 2008 at the Putra Stadium complete with round-trip limousine transfers on the 18th of November 2008.

This unique Matchpoint package is priced at MYR 9,058 for a one-night stay in the hotel’s opulent Club Suite, MYR4,608 for the Park Suite and MYR 2,928 for the hotel’s comfortable Club Rooms.

Hinging on the outcome of the upcoming Davis Cup semi-final between Spain and the USA in Madrid, either the newly crowned Wimbledon champion, Rafael Nadal or American ace James Blake will complete the star-studded cast that is scheduled to make tennis history.

The event will feature one set with Borg against McEnroe and another with Federer against the fourth player. The championship will culminate in a doubles showdown involving all of the four players partnering Federer and Borg against McEnroe and the fourth player.
