International corporate services company Hogg Robinson Group (HRG) has
signed two new partners based in Senegal and Uganda. This latest development closely follows the recent addition of
HRG operations in Ethiopia and
Mauritius and
expands the number of countries in Africa in which HRG has a presence to 18.
Senegal:
Headquartered in the capital city Dakar, Saphir Voyages, founded in 1999, lists Oxfam and UNICEF as key clients. The company
also has extensive events and meetings management expertise, with particular involvement in servicing corporate clients participating in
the Paris-Dakar rally.
There are significant signs of new business growth in Senegal with the country particularly exploiting its regional edge in telecoms with call
centres and IT centres and continued interest from new foreign investors. To help secure the country's future development the Government
has embarked on a massive programme of infrastructure, mainly around the capital Dakar, with many new roads under construction and
plans for a new international airport - both of which will be of enormous benefit to corporate
travellers.
Uganda:
With some 25 years expertise and from its main base in Kampala, Africa Travel Ltd services a number of national and international
organisations including: Food for the Hungry, Shell, the Uganda Investment Authority and National Water & Sewerage Company.
Uganda's economy has performed well in recent years, averaging around 6% annual growth. By maintaining macroeconomic stability and
liberal economic policies it has been able to attract continued multinational investment. The UK in particular has a strong bilateral
relationship and a significant development partnership with Uganda and is the country's largest export market.
Mike Platt, Group Industry Affairs Director at
HRG, said, "This latest development reflects a substantial increase in the number of
multinational companies looking to consolidate their business in Africa and demonstrates our commitment to meeting client needs and
developing an even stronger presence across the region.
"Local knowledge is essential when delivering a worldwide service and both Saphir Voyages and Africa Travel are able to demonstrate an
in-depth understanding of the markets they serve. I am therefore delighted to welcome both companies to the HRG worldwide network and
look forward to working with them to further enhance the service we can offer our clients."
In addition to Senegal and Uganda, HRG's partner operations on the African continent currently include Algeria, Botswana, Cameroon,
Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mauritius, Morocco, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
