AirAsia and
the Institut Jantung Negara (IJN) Foundation have launched a ‘Donate Your Loose Change’
campaign to raise funds to help needy heart patients to carry-out their treatments at the Institut Jantung Negara.
In
the campaign
AirAsia's passengers are encouraged to donate their spare change into the donation box
onboard flights. Subsequent to the in-flight announcement, AirAsia’s flight attendants will bring the donation box to collect the loose change
and spare notes from passengers who wish to make their contributions. Upon landing, the flight attendant will submit the donation box to AirAsia’s cashier counter and sign on
the Donation Box Allocation Schedule accordingly. Consequently, IJN representative will collect the
donation boxes from the cashier weekly.
Dato’ Tony Fernandes, the Group CEO of AirAsia Berhad said “‘Donate Your Loose Change partnership with IJN is a charity which is really
close to my heart. As the Airline of the Year 2007, we truly support the charity by providing means for IJN to collect the funds that give the
chance of life to hundreds of heart patients out there who urgently need to seek for medical treatments at IJN. We sincerely hope that IJN
Foundation will be able to collect as much cash as possible and leverage from our 65 aircraft, more than 86 routes served and over 40
million guests which we have carried so far.”
Toh Puan Dato Seri Dr Hjh Aishah Ong, Chairman of the IJN Foundation commented “The IJN Foundation needs about RM1.5 million to fund
for the treatment charges and hospital bills for needy heart patients every year. Every year, various fund raising programmes and activities
are initiated to raise funds. One of it is establishing strategic partnership with organizations or corporate bodies, and, we would like to
applaud AirAsia for agreeing to be our partner in this noble cause,”
“We are delighted to be working with such an inspirational organization thus we hope to an even greater sum this year so that their fantastic
work can help save even more needy heart patients. As an independent charity body, we rely on the support of companies like AirAsia to
assist us in our lifesaving work.” concluded Toh Puan Aishah.
