The
Hilton Tokyo has appointed Dr. Ron Georgiou, Master of Wine, as an exclusive wine consultant
to enhance the dining experience in one of Tokyo’s most awarded and stylish hotels.
After an intensive survey of the latest fashions and trends, extensive food tasting in all restaurants of the Hilton Tokyo and a new discovery of
Japanese wines, Dr. Ron Georgiou compiled his expertise and passion into one ‘Grand Wine List’ as well as 7 wine menus, exclusively created
for each restaurant of the Hilton Tokyo. To celebrate the launch of the new ‘Grand Wine List’, Dr. Georgiou will make his second visit to the Hilton
Tokyo from October 30, 2008.
“I was very excited to work with the Hilton Tokyo to create the new wine program so that I can now entice our guests to explore some fascinating
wine combined with the finest cuisine from Hilton Tokyo’s award winning chefs”
said Dr. Georgiou.
The new ‘Grand Wine List’ with a vast
collection, includes not only blue chip wines from classic vintages and wine regions of the world, but also a great value boutique list to allow for
the discovery of new and exciting wines and styles. Georgiou has also found that the wines from Japan are exceptional in their own right,
including on the list some wonderful white wines and amazing sweet wines. In addition, Spanish wines have also been included representing
outstanding quality and value plus a natural affinity with Japanese and European cuisine.
Newly listed wines include a stunning Chardonnay from Nagano, such as “2006 Grande Polaire Nagano Furusato Chardonnay”, wonderful
dessert wine from Hokkaido “2006 Petite Grande Polaire Hokkaido Kerner Late Harvest” and high quality full-flavoured Koshu wines from
Yamanashi “2007 Aruga Branca Issehara”.
The Spanish wines, based around tempranillo and Grenache have become worldwide phenomenons
due to their approachability, juicy savory fruit and moderate tannins. Some great quality wines at affordable price points such as
“2006 Finca Luzón Tinto”, “2006 Vinas de Miedes Tinto” and “2006 Pago de Los Capellanes” will be on offer for flexibility with a variety of cuisines.
As one of only 262 Masters of Wine in the world, Dr. Ron Georgiou’s expertise and passion for excellence is reflected in the Hilton Tokyo’s
unique wine selections and as Ron himself says, his guiding vision to make wine ‘a multi sensory experience that moves beyond taste and
aroma to one’s heart, spirit and mind’ will be fully showcased at the Hilton Tokyo’s dining scenes.
