The first day of City Break 2008 took
off on Monday with over 500 city break specialists representing 70 European destinations. With the city
of Belgrade as the backdrop, the show’s strongest hosted buyers will meet new and emerging European destinations and suppliers.
City Break is being used by many of the exhibitors as
an ideal event to launch new products. New projects being launched at City Break 2008 include:
• Tourism Organisation of Belgrade (Serbia) is using its presence as the key sponsor of City Break 2008 to promote the city as an all year
round destination with historic buildings, museums, galleries and a flourishing nightlife.
• Vienna Tourist Board (Austria) is presenting ‘Love Life, Live Creativity 2009’; a programme that combines art, music, concerts and
exhibitions in Vienna. The city will also host the Joseph Haydn Festival in commemoration of the 200th anniversary of his death (1732-1809).
• Visit London (UK)
is using City Break 2008 to promote the opening of the new Gallery of Botanical Art at Kew Gardens and the
Greenwich Observation Wheel, open 21 June - 28 September 2008.
• Office de Tourisme de Bordeaux (France)
is presenting their brand new Unesco World Heritage tours as well as new wine and
vineyard excursions departing from Bordeaux.
• Basel Tourism (Switzerland)
is promoting the Van Gogh exhibition opening from April until September 2009. They will also be
launching a new hotel Ibis opening in 2009 and the complete renovation of the four star property hotel Euler.
• Turin Tourist Board (Italy)
is introducing two new packages: “Step by step” and “Merenda
Reale.
• Grand Casino Beograd (Serbia)
is launching one of the region’s largest casino available for events and conferences.
• Tourist Organisation Podgorica (Montenegro)
is presenting Podgorica, Montenegro’s capital as a new city break destination under the
slogan: “The youngest but with rich tradition, one of the smallest but with the highest direct foreign
investments”.
• The Zacchera Group (Italy)
is focusing on its plan to promote their portfolio of hotels between Baveno and Stresa in the magnificent
surroundings of Lake Maggiore.
Hosted buyer, Dragana Pilipovic from Aventure Del
Mondo, Moscow praised the show, saying, “This is the first time I have participated at this type of event and it’s proving to be invaluable. The show is extremely well
organised, the exhibitors are excellent and I’m creating valuable relationships with several tourism destination management
companies. I am excited and impressed seeing what Belgrade has to offer the leisure
tourist.”
