Business Class passengers on Finnair flights to New York
from Helsinki will be treated to river crayfish as part of the in-flight menu from August 17. The genuine Finnish crayfish will be delivered fresh from the
waters of Lake Saimaa at Savonlinna in eastern Finland, and prepared according to the expert
instructions of the chefs at the kitchens of Finnair Catering Oy.
Crayfish is a traditional delicacy in the late summer in Finland and is consumed at special crayfish
parties. In keeping with tradition, the crayfish on Finnair flights will be served with toast, dill and
lemon as well as the appropriate Finnish schnapps accompaniment. Special souvenir utensils will
be supplied that meet security requirements while also rising to the challenge of cracking the hard
crayfish shells.
The
wine list of the season features an excellent Santiago Ruiz white wine
which is a perfect choice when eating river
crayfish.
This is the seventh year that Finnair has included crayfish
on its Business Class menu. In
summer, Finnair flies daily from Helsinki to New York.
