Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Thursday, 6 September 2007

The Dubai Convention Bureau (DCB) has succeeded in confirming 12 major conferences in the first six months of this year, 50% more than the last year and 20% more than the target set for H1 2007.

Mr. Awadh Seghayer Al Ketbi, DTCM Executive Director Heritage and Convention Division, said, "The conventions and conferences are expected to attract over 25,000 participants to Dubai, thereby benefiting the emirate's booming tourism and hospitality sectors considerably and strengthening Dubai's status as destination of choice for the global Meeting, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) industry."

Dubai is one of the first choices for the global Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions (MICE) industry thanks in part to the aggressive promotional and marketing drive of DCB, operating under the aegis of Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM).

The emirate has already successfully won bids for hosting of 12 major conventions between now and 2013.

The economic impact will be huge with approximately US$200 million in investments in these conferences and exhibitions. Various economic sectors will be benefited from different activities of the organizers and participants who will be spending on their accommodation, food, transport, entertainment and excursions.

DCB become a member of International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) in April 2003.
