The Oriental Bangkok completes Renovation of Sala Rim Naam

Following the successful refurbishment of The China House, The Oriental Bangkoks signature Thai restaurant Sala Rim Naam, has now also completed an elegant interior transformation. 

The new design by Pure Design Concepts, is reminiscent of a magnificent royal palace, and reflects a true sense of place. Thai elements can be seen in the etched glass panel pattern work, derived from an antique Thai scripture cabinet. The chandeliers have been based on reversed ceremonial parasols, and are made of Thai silk meticulously woven with gold thread. A specialist weaver has created the restaurants various jacquard silk fabrics, and Thai motifs adorn the wall panels and curtains. Various ikats and mudmee designs have also been incorporated into the upholstery and traditional triangular Thai cushions. A welcome addition is the Sala Rim Naam Lounge, an open-air pavilion, adjacent to the restaurant, which overlooks the Chao Phraya River.

The Orientals Executive Thai Chef Vichit Mukuras authentic Thai cuisine prevails at lunch and dinner. The lunch menu includes a vast array of sumptuous Thai dishes and live stations, including traditional Thai favourites such as Naam Prig Makham (Dip with Tamarind and Minced Chicken), Yaam Nuea Poo Gub Mamuang (Spiced Green Mango Salad with Crab Meat), Gai Hor Bai Toey (Deep Fried Honeyed Chicken in Pandanus Leaf), and Poo Phad Naam Prig Pow (Stir Fried Sea Crab with Chilli Jam and Basil Leaves). In the evenings guests can indulge in a gourmet Thai set menu, accompanied by a cultural performance and dance show. The Chefs Recommendations and a family style menu are also available in the evening.

For less formal dining, The Sala Rim Naam Lounge is a perfect place to relax with a selection of delectable snacks such as Peekgai Sod Sai Takrai Grob (Deep-fried stuffed chicken wings with crispy lemongrass), Khow Foo Song Krueng (Herbed Minced Chicken and Peanut Balls with Fluffy Rice Grains), and sweet snacks such as Roti Sai Mai (sweet sugar thread wrapped with fresh rice sheet) and Kanom Duang (Petit Rice Flour Rolls with Coconut and Sesame Sugar). The Sala Rim Naam Lounge also serves a selection of signature Oriental cocktails including Wimala, Asadone, Urairat, Tom Yum Sala, and Khing Thai.

The complete transformation of Sala Rim Naam and the addition of the Sala Rim Naam Lounge is in keeping with The Orientals dedication to providing the finest dining venues and experiences for our guests. This renovation brings Sala Rim Naam up to par with Le Normandie, Lord Jims, and the recently renovated China House, said Kurt Wachtveitl, General Manager of The Oriental, Bangkok. The Orientals entire facilities have undergone an extensive restoration over the past seven years, enhancing the hotels legendary service standards and maintaining its place at the forefront of the hospitality industry.

The Sala Rim Naam is open daily for buffet lunch (Baht 1,060 including tax and service) from 12 noon until 3.00 pm, and set dinner with a classical dance show (Baht 2,650 including tax and service) from 7.00 pm until 11.00 pm, the Sala Rim Naam Lounge is open from 10.00 am until 11.00 pm. With live music entertainment until 11.00 pm each night.
