André Martinez, Managing Director and Chairman of Morgan Stanley's Global Lodging practice, will serve as chairman of the 11th annual
International Hotel Investment Forum, scheduled for 3-5 March 2008 at the InterContinental Hotel in Berlin, Germany.
Martinez has over
25 years of experience working in the lodging industry prior to joining Morgan Stanley in 2006, including high level positions at Accor and
Le Meridien Hotels. Morgan Stanley is one of the largest real estate investors
amongst Wall Street firms and under his direction has become one of the
world's largest owners of hotels, with over 100 hotels in its global portfolio.
The theme for
the 2008 IHIF is "Changing Gear".
This theme reflects the shifts occurring in the global capital markets and
in European lodging investments in particular. The Advisory Board for the
IHIF, which is comprised of industry leaders from across the hotel investment spectrum concluded that while investment interest in the European lodging market is expected to remain strong
into the foreseeable future, changes are occurring in the capital markets and the way deals may
be done in 2008. The agenda and topics selected for the IHIF in 2008 will
reflect this theme.
IHIF is
one of Europe's largest gatherings of hotel industry leaders, drawing a record crowd of nearly 1,600 in March 2007. Registration for
the 2008 event is now open.
