Castaways Resort on Mission Beach in Australia to join Rydges Hotels and Resorts

Castaways Resort on Mission Beach, a boutique getaway on the Far North Queensland coast, is to join the rapidly expanding Rydges Hotels and Resorts Group from this Friday, 6 July, becoming the 31st property in the group's Australian portfolio.

Yesterday, the group added it 30th property, Rydges Southbank Townsville, and last week opened the new Rydges Sabaya Resort Port Douglas, after an 18 month redevelopment.

The 49-room Castaways Resort, located between the cities of Cairns and Townsville, is just 20 metres from the white-sand Mission Beach, on the shores of the Coral Sea - perfect for a romantic escape or a beachfront wedding.

Every room in the resort has views of the water, and of the nearby Dunk Island Resort, just 15 minutes away by water taxi.

In addition, the resort's restaurant, Zestivale, and its poolside bar both offer magical views of the Coral Sea and spectacular tropical sunsets.

Castaways Resort offers a mix of hotel rooms and one and two bedroom apartments, catering to a range of budgets and requirements.

The 27 standard rooms offer facilities including private balconies and satellite television.

The five one-bedroom and five two-bedroom units each offer a spa overlooking the beach, a separate lounge and dining room and a fully-equipped kitchen.

And the two superior suites also offer a large lounge and dining room, a kitchenette and a spacious private balcony.

For guests wanting to explore the region, Castaways Resort on Mission Beach is close to attractions including treks through neighbouring world heritage rainforests, white water rafting, crocodile spotting and cruises to the world-renowned Great Barrier Reef.

For those choosing to stay in the resort, there are also plenty of less-strenuous attractions, including an in-house massage service, a library and games room, a high-speed internet lounge, a swimming pool and spa and free barbecue facilities.

Rydges has appointed Darren Pike as General Manager of the Castaways Resort on Mission Beach. Previously, Darren was Executive Assistant Manager at Rydges Esplanade Resort in Cairns.
