Marriott International
has appointed Mr. Anthony Armas as Thailand Director of Marketing.
In his new role, Anthony will oversee the Cluster Sales Organization for the three Marriott managed
properties – JW Marriott Hotel Bangkok, JW Phuket Resort & Spa and the Renaissance Koh Samui
Resort & Spa. Additionally, he will oversee the opening of the three new Courtyards by Marriott
opening this year; Bangkok, Patong Beach-Phuket and Surin Beach-Phuket.
Anthony has had an extensive and successful career in the hospitality industry, which includes the
last 12 years with Marriott. He began with Marriott in 1995 as Director of Sales at the San Juan
Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino. He then moved to Santo Domingo as Director of Marketing for the
Renaissance Jaragua Resort & Casino. In 2000, Anthony was appointed Market Director of Central
America with direct responsibility for the three Costa Rica Hotels & Resorts. He also had market
responsibilities for the Marriott properties in Panama, Guatemala, Peru and Ecuador. Anthony's next
assignment was as Director of Marketing for Mexico, heading an eight property Cluster Sales Organization. As leader of the Cluster team, he
played a key role in the transition of the Mexico Area Reservation Office into a fully fledge Mexico Worldwide Reservation Center.
In January 2005, Anthony moved to Thailand to assume a seconded role as Cluster Director of Marketing for Minor International, overseeing
their three franchised Marriott Resorts in Bangkok, Pattaya, and Hua Hin. During the two and half year assignment, he was instrumental in
leading the properties in some of the best years in revenue, ADR and
RevPar.
This year Anthony was awarded the Marriott Global Sales
Leadership Award and the International Sales Leadership Award at the Marriott Global Leadership Conference in San Francisco. In addition,
in both 2006 and 2007 Anthony received Special Achievement Awards from Minor International at their annual award presentations.
