Gerhard R. Fasching, an industry veteran with over 34 years of experience in the hospitality
business, has been appointed General Manager of Radisson Hotel Pudong Century Park in
Shanghai, China.
Gerhard will oversee the training of
all hotel management staff, ensuring that the training programmes are of the highest standards in the
industry. He will also be responsible for the hotel's sales and revenue, and for reducing the
organisation's expenses.
Prior to
this appointment, Gerhard was the General Manager and Vice President of the State
Guest Friendship Presidential Plaza Hotel in Beijing, China, for over two years. During this time at
SGF Presidential Plaza Hotel, Gerhard secured the first airline crew business from KLM Royal Dutch
Airlines and obtained a three-year contract. His significant contributions include the lowering of the
accounts payables of the Presidential Plaza Hotel from RMB34 million to RMB22 million, increasing the hotel's overall profit by RMB15
million as well as reducing expenses by 3.4% (mostly in the energy sector) and increasing the Gross Operating Profit (GOP) by 60.8%.
He was also in charge of
the Miyun Resort Hotel in Beijing and for the past 18 months was assisting the State Guest Friendship Hotel
Management Group to achieve its 18th position in the China Hotel Management Company Rating System.
Gerhard began his career in Austria in 1974 and has since worked in many countries such as Europe, Bermuda, New Zealand and more
recently in China, where he was appointed as General Manager of the Jianguo Hotel in Beijing. In 1993, Gerhard played a key role as the
General Manager of the Activitaaa Hotel Group, Scheffau, Austria, where he turned the hotel into a profitable operation, after it suffered five years
of continual losses.
Gerhard has a well-rounded perspective on all aspects of running a world-class hotel, having worked in Catering, Food and Beverage, Sales,
Operations, Conference, Banquet and as General Manager at various hotels around the globe.
Gerhard is married and enjoys reading, golf, travelling, diving and skiing.
