In its ongoing commitment to enhance conference users’ experience,
Suntec Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Centre has acquired and rolled out the latest 3.5G technology to give its convention goers the fastest wireless connectivity available in Singapore.
Also known as High-Speed Packet Access (HSPA), this service, provided by StarHub, will allow conference delegates to connect wirelessly
to its mobile broadband network, enabling users the ability to download and upload large files in a shorter time frame.
"At Suntec Singapore, we are consistently striving to enhance our guests’ experience by providing the latest technology available to add
value to our clients’ events,” said Mr Pieter Idenburg, Chief Operating Officer of Suntec Singapore. "We understand how little time
conference delegates have and we are pleased to provide this service to our valued guests."
With this high speed service, conference users can wirelessly surf the internet, check emails, link up to their corporate intranet, stream
videos and download documents and files speedily and with ease. The service can be accessed through laptops with 3.5G-capable data
cards, as well as a wide range of supported mobile phones and PDAs. Users need only to lease a 3.5G enabled device to enjoy the benefits.
"We are delighted to expand our relationship with Suntec Singapore and to extend our wireless broadband service offering beyond the
existing Wifi service, which has been available for a number of years,” said Mr Anil Nihalani, Vice President of StarHub's mobile services.
“This additional capability provides customers with a wider selection of wireless broadband technologies to choose from depending on
their requirements. StarHub's HSPA service offers the highest two-way speeds available nationwide. Regardless of their platform of choice,
customers can be assured of high-quality wireless connectivity and service."
Suntec Singapore, already an iconic venue for meetings, conventions and exhibitions, earned a reputation for being one of the most scenic,
convenient and unusual places in Asia Pacific for wireless hotspot in an Intel Poll in 2005, beating other contenders that included
Singapore’s Changi Airport, Shanghai's Xintiandi and Beijing’s Great Wall of China.
