Langham Hotels International
has secured its first property in the Western United States with the purchase of the luxurious heritage
hotel – The Ritz-Carlton Huntington Hotel & Spa in Pasadena, California which will be rebranded as The
Langham, Huntington Hotel & Spa, Pasadena on January 8th, 2008. The hotel, located in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains, just 9 miles north of
Downtown Los Angeles celebrated its 100th anniversary of the original opening this
year. It represents Langham Hotels International’s sixth new hotel announcement in
as many months, marking a doubling of its size globally.
Strategically, The Langham, Huntington Hotel & Spa, Pasadena signals the group’s
plans for long-term US investment and expansion in terms of property acquisition
and brand awareness for the 140-year-old luxury brand.
“It is a coup for Langham Hotels International to acquire such a luxurious heritage
property that fits perfectly with the timeless Langham brand. This latest acquisition
represents a tangible development for Langham in the North American market as we
are now represented on both coasts,” said Dr. KS Lo, Chairman, Langham Hotels
International.
Langham Hotels International has signalled that it will invest US$25 million into
upgrading the hotel’s facilities. It will sensitively explore landscaping, upgrading the
cottages and ensuring the restaurants and spa remain among the finest on the West Coast of
the United States.
Pasadena enjoys a near-perfect climate which has made the city and its environs a
popular choice for tourists and makes the 23 acres upon which the Huntington Hotel
sits the perfect backdrop from which to indulge in the Californian lifestyle. The hotel
also hosts the annual nationally-televised Tournament of the Roses, the Rose Parade
and the iconic Rose Bowl college football championship.
