Marriott
is to add a second Renaissance-branded hotel to its lodging portfolio in the greater Amsterdam metropolitan area,
under a franchise agreement with Realotel & Partner Schiphol Management Hoofddorp
B.V.
The 318-room property is expected to open 2009 and will be located near Schiphol International Airport. Access to both local and national
primary road networks is good and regular bus transportation is available from outside the hotel to the Amsterdam’s city center, about 15
kilometers away.
“We are delighted to add this second Renaissance property to our hotel portfolio in Amsterdam,” said Arne Sorenson, Marriott’s chief
financial officer and president of European lodging. “Schiphol is the largest international gateway to Amsterdam and one of Europe’s most
important airline hubs. We are confident that this Renaissance hotel will be a welcomed addition to Amsterdam’s hospitality infrastructure
especially for those doing business in the vicinity of the airport.”
Accommodations at the Renaissance Amsterdam Airport will be spacious and will offer high speed internet access, Marriott’s plush bedding
and bath linens, a mini-bar, and flat-screen TV.
For dining and entertainment, the hotel will have a casual restaurant serving three meals daily, and a bar and lobby lounge. Twenty-hour
room service will also be available.
Other amenities will include a business center, a fully-equipped fitness center and retail shops.
For social events and meetings, the hotel will have 10,820 square feet of meeting space including a 4,627-square foot meeting room that will
be divisible into four sections and 6,193 square feet of additional space comprised of 12 meeting rooms in varying configurations.
The Marriott International portfolio in Amsterdam currently consists of the 148-room Courtyard by Marriott Amsterdam Airport, the 392-room
Amsterdam Marriott and the 405-room Renaissance Amsterdam.
