On
Saturday, Korean Air launched regular cargo flights to Moscow.
The
airline adjusted the schedule of its existing Incheon ~ Frankfurt cargo route,
to make a stop at Moscow on the Incheon-outbound segment every Saturday.
The route is operated with a Boeing 747-400 freighter.
Due to the high tariffs imposed by the Russian government, most of the cargo headed to Russia was sent in via Northern Europe
up to now. But recently the tariffs were greatly lowered in a move by the Russian administration to join the World Trade
Organization in 2007, and the direct cargo flow to Russia is anticipated to increase. Cellular phones, electronic devices and
textiles are the major export items to Russia.
