Northwest Airlines
is to initiate a second daily roundtrip service between Detroit and Frankfurt during the coming peak summer
season, beginning May 7 through October 27. This service will be operated by
KLM and Northwest within the scope of their joint-venture agreement.
The second Detroit-Frankfurt service will be operated using Northwests Boeing 757 equipment in a special two-class transatlantic
configuration. Northwest and KLM announced previously that under the terms of the joint venture they would be launching similar
757 services between Amsterdam and Hartford, between Detroit and Brussels, and between Detroit and Dsseldorf with effect
from the forthcoming summer season.
Also within the scope of KLM and Northwests transatlantic expansion plan, flight frequencies will be increased on roundtrips
between Amsterdam and Detroit, New York JFK, Boston, Los Angeles and Toronto. Capacity will be increased on the flights
between Amsterdam and San Francisco.
