KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and Malaysia Airlines (MAS) are
to further expand their codeshare cooperation.
From March 1, 2007, KLM passengers on flights between Amsterdam and Kuala Lumpur will be able to book under KLM flight numbers
for connecting domestic services operated by MAS between Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and Penang, Langkawi, and Kota
Kinabalu.
The two airlines have worked successfully together since 1998 through a codeshare agreement for flights between the two
hubs of
Amsterdam and Kuala Lumpur. In addition, KLM passengers are also able to codeshare on MAS flights to and from Australia and New Zealand. In
turn, Malaysia Airlines codeshares with KLM on European flights to and from
Schiphol.
Malaysia Airlines’ senior vice president Commercial, Mr. Dato Rashid Khan
said, “This is an exciting development in our existing codeshare
partnership with KLM. It is consistent with our Business Turnaround Plan. It is also timely as this arrangement with KLM is likely to boost tourist
arrivals to Penang, Langkawi, and Kota Kinabalu for the Visit Malaysia Year 2007, as well as improve our load factors on these domestic routes.”
