The
St. Regis Hotel, Singapore, which will open in December, now has its
full management team in place, headed by veteran Norwegian hotelier Yngvar Stray.
Mr. Stray joined from the chic W Seoul-Walker Hill in South Korea, which earned accolades including
‘Best Hotel in Seoul’ during his tenure as General Manager, and he was previously part of the
management team that launched the St. Regis Hotel, Beijing.
“I am delighted with the high quality of the team we have put together for what will be the new
showcase property for Starwood Hotels & Resorts in Asia Pacific,” Mr.
Stray said.
Since its opening over a century ago by American businessmen, inventor, novelist and philanthropist Colonel John Jacob Astor IV, The St.
Regis Hotel, New York has become a true legend.
The fine legacy of the St. Regis name is now carried by a small and exclusive group of prestigious hotels, of which St. Regis Hotel,
Singapore is the third in Asia.
The
Management Team
Canadian
David Campbell is Director of Sales & Marketing. The former ski instructor went to China in 1994 to learn Mandarin and entered the
hospitality industry while in Beijing, joining Shangri-La’s China World hotel.
He was part of the opening team of The Westin Bund Centre Shanghai and earned Starwood Asia Pacific’s Best Director of Sales and
Marketing award for 2006.
Franck
Hardy, Executive Assistant Manager – Food and Beverage. He is a finalist of Food and Beverage Manager of the Year at the 2007
World Gourmet Summit and oversees the creative development and operation of restaurants and bars, banqueting, in-room dining at the St.
Regis Hotel, Singapore as well as private dining at the St. Regis Residences.
Susan Richardson is Executive Assistant Manager – Rooms. She is responsible for all aspects of the hotel’s operations that relate to rooms,
including housekeeping, spa and managing the signature St. Regis Butlers who are the hallmark of the brand.
She is assisted by
Denise Tan Yi
Min, Director of Rooms, one of Singapore’s most senior hotel housekeepers and former President of the
Singapore Association of Housekeepers.
Director of Finance
Lim Mei-May is a veteran accountant, joining St. Regis from Starwood’s corporate team, where she was Divisional
Manager.
Veronica Tan transferred to St. Regis from Le Meridien Singapore, where she was also Director of Human Resources.
Executive Chef
Frederic Colin trained under iconic Michelin-star chefs in France, with experience extending from the Caribbean and United
States to Bora-Bora in the South Pacific.
He transferred to Singapore from St. Regis Resort, Bora-Bora in French Polynesia, where he opened three outlets, including celebrity chef
Jean-Georges’ signature restaurant.
Wong Wye
Leng, a former MTV & Channel News Asia producer, benefits St. Regis with extensive media experience in her role as Director of
Marketing Communications.
She also launched the executive Grand Tower of the award-wining Westin Bund Center in Shanghai in late
2006.
Designed by internationally acclaimed architects Wilson & Associates, the St. Regis Hotel, Singapore
will offer 299 luxuriously appointed guestrooms and suites, and is
expected to open in December this year.
