Mr.
Andrew Zimmern, host of Travel Channel's Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern, will be a
celebrity guest at THETRADESHOW in Las Vegas, Sunday, 9 September and Monday,
10 September 2007.
Packing an open mind, strong stomach and a healthy appetite for travel, internationally renowned
chef and food writer, Andrew Zimmern knows all about the global pantry and is prepared to share
that knowledge with the travel industry. On his Travel Channel show, Bizarre Foods, Zimmern sets
out to taste local delicacies from around the globe - from Spain to Ecuador, back to New York City
and then off again to Papua New Guinea.
Zimmern tastes his way around the world exposing the beauty of both the locations and the
traditions behind the food he consumes, broadening the viewers' travel and culinary horizons.
"I love traveling and exploring new places, so speaking to an audience dedicated to promoting the positive impact of travel is a great
opportunity," Zimmern said. "Today's traveler is adventurous and willing to experience exotic foods and traditions. As an industry, we have
the unique opportunity to sell the product and influence their choices, what they see and most importantly for me, where they eat. Culture
and food is an interesting way to sell a destination. I use the cuisines as my compass, and I look forward to sharing my experience from the
road."
Through his extensive travels, Zimmern has determined that one of the best ways to understand a culture fully is by learning about the
traditional fare that has fed the native population for centuries. He knows that what seems foreign, unusual and even highly unappetizing on
one side of the planet may be a sacred dish on the other. Partaking in such experiences often proves the best way to appreciate a new
culture and see the country.
"Travel is an exciting adventure and Andrew Zimmern takes that adventure to a new epicurean level with his willingness to sample unique
and bizarre foods along the way. Zimmern promises to be a fun and not to be missed speaker at THETRADESHOW in Las Vegas," said
Roger Dow, president and CEO of the Travel Industry Association.
Andrew Zimmern is a food writer, dining critic, radio talk-show host, TV personality, chef and teacher. Along with being one of the most
versatile and knowledgeable personalities in the food world, Zimmern's participation is a
great opportunity for agents attending
to offer new options and better information to their clients.
