In May 2007, Singapore welcomed 820,000 visitors, representing a growth of
7.1% compared to May 2006. Visitor days were estimated to reach 3.1 million days, an increase of 16.8% in comparison to
May 2006.
Indonesia (155,000), India (98,000), P.R. China (85,000), Australia
(59,000) and Malaysia (51,000) were Singapores top five visitor-generating markets in May 2007. These markets accounted for 55% of
total visitor arrivals for the month.
The 98,000 visitors from India in May 2007 is a new record for visitors arriving from India in any
month. This is 20.9% higher than the previous record of 81,000 visitor arrivals from India set in May
2006.
Singapore gazetted hotels were estimated to generate
Sin$152.2 million in room revenue in May 2007, showing a growth in excess of 30% as compared to May 2006.
The Average Room Rate (ARR) in May 2007 was estimated to reach an all-time high of
Sin$195, representing an increase of 25.1% over May 2006. The Average Occupancy Rate (AOR) for hotels was estimated to have reached 85% in May 2007, posting a 4.1 percentage point
increase over May 2006.
