Travel News Asia Monday, 2 July 2007

Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels (JLL) has promoted eight of its employees across Asia Pacific.

Demand for quality hotel investment advice has been strong and is growing and JLL is expecting total sales volume for the Asia Pacific region to hit US$8 billion during 2007. “Providing innovative forward thinking advice to our clients on a diverse range of hotel property related matters in this growing region is paramount and the promotions are in tandem with the growth we are experiencing,” said Mr David Gibson, CEO Asia Pacific, Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels.

Mr Gibson added, “Our clients are becoming increasingly sophisticated about hotel investments and we are challenged every day to exceed their expectations. Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels’ team of over 60 professionals across Asia Pacific comprises professionals who are highly trained in all facets of the hotel property industry. The depth and breadth in experience and services we provide is what sets us apart from our competitors.”

Australia and New Zealand: In recognition of his proven ability at developing successful client relationships and executing key mandates, Mr Mike Batchelor has been promoted to Managing Director, Investment Sales, Australia and New Zealand.

Promoted to Executive Vice President, Mr Mark Durran leads the JLL’s hotel investment sales teams in NSW, Victoria and WA. Having recently negotiated some of the country’s largest major hotel sales including the Avillion Hotel Sydney and Hotel Grand Chancellor Perth, Mr Durran continues to expand and develop the Sydney team whilst spearheading the establishment of a new Melbourne hotels team to continue the firms strong growth.

Singapore: Promoted to Managing Director, Investment Sales, Asia, Mr Craig Collins is responsible for the JLL’s Investment Sales division in Asia. “Craig has been an influential force in the development of our business in the region and makes a relentless effort to service clients, develop people and build our market leadership,” said Mr Scott Hetherington, Managing Director, Asia. He added, “Asia is undoubtedly one of the ‘hottest’ hotel investment markets in the world at present. Craig has the knowledge and experience and leads a highly talented team in providing quality advice to hotel owners wanting to capitalise on the aggressive investor market.” Currently Mr Collins oversees the marketing of several major hotel investment opportunities in Phuket, Bangkok, Bali, Jakarta, Macau, China, Vietnam and Cambodia.

Also based in Singapore and an integral member of the Advisory practice in Asia, Ms Michelle Hui was promoted to Vice President, Advisory.

Japan: Mr Tomohiko Sawayanagi, who leads the JLL in Japan, has been promoted to Managing Director, Japan. Mr Hetherington said, “Tom has established himself and our brand as the leading hotel advisor in Japan over a relatively short period. His success in building the team and securing a constantly growing base of high quality clients has yielded exceptional results. This is evident from the pivotal part he played in advising ANA in its joint venture with IHG and the US$2.36 billion sale of ANA’s 13 owned and leased hotels in Japan to Morgan Stanley Real Estate Fund.” The 13-hotel portfolio sale is one of the largest hotel transactions in Asia Pacific and one of the biggest real estate sales the region has witnessed.

To further support the rapid growth of Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels' Japanese operations to provide clients with greater depth in services, Mr Yasokazu Terada has been promoted to Executive Vice President while Mr Kentaro Nakamura promoted to Associate.

China: Mr Hans Galland, who is a pioneer of the Hotels team in China, has been promoted to Vice President, Advisory in view of his contributions to the growth of the JLL’s China business.
