Participants of the 2008 Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon are
being offered the chance to take part in a Marathon Clinic, organized by the Hong
Kong Amateur Athletic Association (HKAAA), to learn the correct running knowledge and basic training required the event on Sunday 17
February 2008.
HKAAA will offer a variety of courses tailoring the needs of runners with different levels of experience. It includes the New Balance One-day
Training Course, Watsons Water Marathon Lecture and 4-day Progressive Training Courses. These programs will be held in the period from
16 December 2007 to 20 January 2008.
The New Balance One-day Training Course caters for all kinds of runners who want to get general ideas about preparation for race day and
runner’s guide on race day. The course will be divided into two parts: theory and practical, with running experts sharing their experience and
helping participants solve their problems.
The Watsons Water Marathon Lecture will be hosted by knowledgeable and experienced coaches with Dr. Louie, Hung Tak, Lobo, Associate
Professor of Department of Physical Education of the Hong Kong Baptist University. Coaches will focus on the training principles and
racing strategies while Dr. Louie will give a talk about the importance of water
and energy
supplements.
The
lecture is divided into elementary and advanced levels. The elementary level is suggested for
beginners while the advanced level is
open for experienced runners who want to upgrade their performance by learning more professional theory and knowledge.
In addition to these individual sessions, there is a 4-day Progressive Training Course organized to provide more practical exercise following
the detailed information for preparation and race day given to runners by professional coaches’ guide during the lecture. Participants will
have a chance to get a free Running Gait Analysis and learn more about their personal strike pattern.
Registered runners interested to join these clinics can go to the official website
hkmarathon.com to download the entry form and
return the completed form to the Marathon Secretariat on or before 30 November 2007. Limited seats are available and the enrollment is
