In March 2007, Singapore welcomed 835,000 visitors, registering a 1.9% growth over the same period a year ago. This was a record
high for the month of March. Visitor days were estimated to reach 3 million days, an increase of 12.6% in comparison to March 2006.
Indonesia (151,000), P.R. China (78,000), Japan (57,000), United Kingdom (55,000) and Malaysia (52,000) were Singapores top five
visitor-generating markets in March 2007. These markets accounted for 47% of total visitor arrivals for the month.
Singapore gazetted hotels generated
Sin$162.1 million in room revenue in March 2007, representing a strong growth of
28% over
March 2006. This was the highest monthly room revenue generated by the gazetted hotels in Singapore since 1995.
The Average Room Rate (ARR) in March 2007 was estimated at
Sin$194, an increase of 24.5% over March 2006. This was the highest
monthly ARR recorded, surpassing the previous high registered in September last year. The Average Occupancy Rate (AOR) for hotels was estimated to have
reached 91% in March 2007, posting a 2.9 percentage point increase over March 2006.
