Travelport
has appointed Gordon Wilson as CEO and president of the combined Galileo/Worldspan organization, reporting to Jeff Clarke, CEO
and president, Travelport.
“I am pleased to announce that Gordon will expand his role at the helm of Galileo and assume additional responsibilities as CEO and president of
both Travelport GDS businesses as we integrate them,” said Jeff Clarke, CEO and president of Travelport. “Gordon has been a driving force in
the travel services industry for the past two decades and we are all very excited about the opportunities he will generate from the pending
combination of Galileo and Worldspan. I am confident that we couldn’t have a more knowledgeable, experienced or enthusiastic man to lead the
new organization. I know that under Gordon’s leadership, we will create a more efficient and innovative provider of travel content and ensure that
Travelport is best positioned to meet the growing demands of customers.”
Wilson, 40, has been with Galileo since 1991, serving as CEO and president, Galileo, since January 2007 and is based in London. He is
responsible for all of Galileo's global activities, including delivering content, reservations technology and services to travel agents, travel
suppliers, tour operators, travel management companies and corporations.
In addition to the Galileo GDS, Wilson oversees aiRes, the hosting technology solution for next-generation airlines, and Shepherd Systems, a
market intelligence provider. During his career at Galileo, he has held a number of senior roles based in the USA, Europe and Africa. Prior to
taking on the global president and CEO role at Galileo, he ran all of Travelport’s Business Group activities in
EMEA, Asia and the Pacific, comprising the travel content wholesaler GTA, hotel reservations and services provider TRUST/Wizcom as well as Galileo itself. Prior to Galileo,
Wilson held a number of roles in the UK airline and chemical industries. He holds a master’s degree in Law from Cambridge University.
