Korean
Air has appointed Mr. Mu-Chol Shin as Regional General Manager, Passenger & Cargo Sales of the carrier’s Hong Kong Regional
Office.
The appointment came into effect on January 18, 2007 and Mr. Shin will be responsible for the airline’s passenger and cargo business in
the region.
Mr. Shin has developed a reputation of leadership excellence in various departments during his past 22 years of service in Korean Air. He
joined Korean Air in 1985 as a Controller in Passenger Reservation division, which is one of the core departments of the company
responsible for monitoring global booking situation that reflected the sales condition of flights.
Mr. Shin was transferred to the
International and Domestic Public Relations department in 1989 and his areas of specialization were global corporate and brand
positioning and crisis management. Mr. Shin also supervised media relations, strategic planning and development that allowed him to
create collaborative workspace during his 13 years with the department. Mr. Shin served as passenger sales and marketing Manager from
2001 to 2003 and developed numerous sales promotional plans and strategies in Korean Air headquarters and its subsidiary Duty Free
Shop in Seoul and Jeju. Mr. Shin has ample experience in running the Regional Office in Hong Kong. He has been overseeing the Hong
Kong passenger sales division since December 2003.
Besides his business accomplishment, Mr. Shin has been contributing his knowledge in the aviation industry to academic institutes. He
was an invited lecturer of Jung-Suk University and Korean Aviation University.
Born in Seoul in 1958, Mr. Shin
received an MBA from Helsinki School of Economic & Business Administration in 1996.
He and his wife have a son and a daughter. His hobbies include hiking and playing golf.
Earlier this month,
Korean Air has appointed Mr. Je-Beom Kim as General Manager of Passenger Sales Division in Hong
Kong.
