Most resorts celebrate just one grand opening. Not so with the Ho Tram Beach Resort &
Spa in Vietnam.
After launching operations in the spring of 2006, the Ho Tram (formerly Ho Tram Osaka Resort)
closed ranks a year later, nearly doubled its size, and brought in a new management company.
Last month, the Ho Tram relaunched under management by the Life Resorts, a Dutch resort company that owns and operates two resorts
and manages several others in Vietnam.
Heading up the new Life Resorts team at Ho Tram is May Tin, a
Swiss and Australian-trained manager who most recently worked at the Sir
Stamford at Circular Quay and Sir Stamford Double Bay in Sydney,
Australia.
"May Tin knows boutique hotels. She knows the international market, and she understands the expectations that foreign travelers pack
along with their clothes, toiletries and beach reading," said Chris Duffy, General Director of the Life Resorts Management. "As she
ensures that Ho Tram meets the Life Resorts standards, she'll be laying out the welcome mat to not only a great boutique resort, but to an
area that's not yet popular with international travelers, but should be soon."
At the same time, the 50,000 square-meter resort put in the new management team; the Ho Tram also boosted its portfolio of rooms from 38
to 63 and integrated a new swimming pool onto the beachfront property.
Tin's role will include training staff and bringing the resort's service to international
standards, as it aims to draw more of an overseas market.
"I've always had a passion for the boutique hotel experience," Tin said. "It's one of the reasons I'm so excited about coming to the Ho Tram.
This place is really a diamond in the rough. It has a unique personality all its own, but with all the amenities you expect at a top-notch resort."
The
resort is located just two hours by car from downtown Ho Chi Minh City.
