Using traditional Japanese craftsmanship such as Edo-kiriko cut glass, Yuzen kimono fabric, intricate bamboo weaving and wood carved
motifs and natural materials such as clay, porcelain and stone, renowned interior designer Yasumichi Morita has created a
dynamic and contemporary environment that is both serene and inspiring. Morita was responsible for the design of the two MEGU restaurants in New
York and is also working on the ultra-stylish W Hotel in Hong Kong which will open in close proximity to MEGU next year.
The first MEGU opened in the heart of New York in 2004, and was followed by a second location in the Trump World Tower, also in New York,
in 2006. Both gained much critical acclaim and are popular hangouts for international celebrities.
MEGU in Hong Kong is the first MEGU outside of the U.S. and signals the beginning of global expansion for the brand, with London, South
Beach Miami and Las Vegas all slated for the future.
“It is such a pleasure to see so many Hong Kong residents truly enjoying themselves and their surroundings at MEGU. I feel that they really
appreciate the authenticity of our modern Japanese cuisine and avante guarde presentation. We are thrilled to bring to the people of Hong
Kong more and more unique and exciting ingredients and wonderful surprises from
Japan,” said Hiro Nishida, President of Food Scope America, the U.S. arm of the Tokyo-based company which owns
