One&Only Reethi Rah launches Mini Chefs Programme

Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Friday, 2 November 2007

Aspiring young chefs can now learn from the masters with KidsOnly cooking classes at One&Only Reethi Rah. Clad in cute mini chef hats and aprons, kids can learn a range of fun and practical culinary skills in cooking classes held three times a week in different locations around the resort.

Once enrolled with KidsOnly, the cookery classes are included at no charge in the kids club programme. Children aged between 4 to11 years are welcome to attend cookery classes, guided by One&Only’s highly trained counsellors and hosted by the Chefs de Cuisine in each restaurant.

On Mondays, the mini chefs can be found learning to roll sushi with Japanese Chef, Norimasa Kosaka, in Tapasake. An over-water restaurant on the western tip of the island, Tapasake boasts a granite and mirror-polished stainless steel sushi bar where kids will learn to prepare sushi while overlooking the turquoise Indian Ocean.

Wednesdays are spent learning Arabic inspired cuisine with Moroccan Chef, Younes Trini, in One&Only Reethi Rah’s exotic outdoor beach bar and restaurant, Fanditha. Making good use of the outdoor barbecue kitchen and its Iranian bread baking oven, Younes helps kids make authentic pita bread.

The highlight of the week for kids with a sweet tooth is the pastry workshop held on Fridays in the Reethi Restaurant pastry kitchen. Executive Pastry Chef, Karim Khouani, will share his most delicious cookie and cake recipes.

After the cookery classes, each child is awarded a certificate of participation signed by the chef, along with the recipes to take home.

Cookery classes are just one of the fun activities planned for children at KidsOnly. Programmes designed for three different age groups range from swimming, snorkelling and beach volleyball to tennis, treasure hunts, drama workshops and numerous fun excursions – and even a spa themed day.

The KidsOnly clubhouse is open for 12 hours a day from 9am-9pm with its own dining area, playroom and playground, swimming pool, arts and crafts area, sporting facilities, stage area and access to the beach.
