New Changes to HITEC 2008 Schedule

Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Thursday, 20 September 2007

Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP) has confirmed that, for the first time, the Opening Session and Welcome Reception of Hospitality Industry Technology Exposition and Conference (HITEC) will be moved to Monday and will still keep a general session on Tuesday morning. The rest of the HITEC schedule will remain similar to pervious HITECs. HITEC 2008 is scheduled for June 16-19 at the Austin Convention Center in Austin, Texas.

Both the Opening Session and Welcome Reception will take place on Monday evening at the Austin Convention Center. The Opening Session, starting at 4:30 p.m., will include a presentation from a highly regarded hospitality industry professional. The Welcome Reception will start at 6 p.m., immediately following the Opening Session. HITEC, which always runs Monday through Thursday, traditionally holds the Opening Session on Tuesday morning, with the Welcome Reception following that evening.

"Attendees expressed interest in rearranging the HITEC schedule and so the HITEC Advisory Council is responding," said David Sjolander, CHTP, VP of hotel information systems for Carlson Hospitality Corporation and HITEC 2008 Advisory Council chair. "We believe the new schedule will be an easy transition from the traditional HITEC format, and allows us the opportunity to provide an additional general session with a high-profile speaker."

HITEC 2008 will still have a general session on Tuesday morning, as well as another general session on Thursday afternoon to close the show. The HITEC Advisory Council is currently soliciting suggestions for general session speakers. Recommendations for high profile speakers in the hospitality industry should be sent to education@hftp.org
