Etihad Airways launches E-ticketing in Philippines with Amadeus

Travel News Asia Tuesday, 20 March 2007

Amadeus has launched electronic ticketing in the Philippines for Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways. This significant move will provide the airline as well as travel agents and passengers with greater convenience and flexibility.

Etihad becomes the 37th carrier in the Philippines to offer e-ticketing through Amadeus. The launch is well ahead of the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) deadline for 100% paperless ticketing by year-end, which is expected to deliver substantial savings to airlines.

Apart from cost savings, e-ticketing will enable Etihad to benefit from faster ticket processing and monitoring, while allowing travel agents to improve operational efficiencies and reduce workload associated in issuing and distributing traditional tickets. Passengers will enjoy the advantages of faster check-in and at the same time, not worry about misplaced or stolen tickets.

“Etihad’s philosophy is to change the way our guests see the world. With the activation of electronic ticketing in the Philippines, we are able to provide a fresh new approach to service on the ground. We shall continue to change established conventions in the airline industry in our pursuit to improve and facilitate excellent service to our guests,” said Etihad Airways Country Manager Juan Torres.

Amadeus currently facilities e-ticketing distribution for 182 carriers in 140 countries.
