KLM Royal Dutch Airlines
is to appoint Mr. Jan Ernst de Groot (44) as member of the Board of Managing Directors with effect from July 5,
2007. Mr. De Groot currently holds the position of Executive Vice President Corporate Center at
KLM.
With the appointment of Mr. De Groot, KLM’s Board of Managing Directors will continue to be made up of three people. Mr. Peter Hartman
succeeded Mr. Leo van Wijk as KLM President & CEO with effect from April 1, 2007. In his capacity as CFO, Mr. Frédéric Gagey also occupies a
position on the Board of Managing Directors.
Jan Ernst de Groot joined KLM in 1992. Over the years, he has held various management positions in a broad range of areas including foreign
affairs, commercial alliances, labor relations, legal affairs, airport strategy, environmental responsibility, company secretary and general counsel
from 2003 to 2005.
Mr. De Groot studied at the University of Leiden and is an alumnus of the Harvard Business School. Before joining KLM, he completed his military
service as a naval officer and subsequently worked as an attorney at the offices of De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek in The Hague.
