Continental Airlines
is to offer same day connections from Cairns in Australia to the Japanese ski resort of
Sapporo, via Guam, from 1 November, 2007.
The airline currently operates two weekly flights between Cairns and Guam, with onward
connections to destinations including Tokyo, Honolulu and Micronesian island locations.
From November, the carrier will operate four weekly flights from Guam to Sapporo - an increase of
two flights on this route - and from 27 December until 22 January these services will be daily.
Continental Airlines flight CO 903 now departs Cairns at 12.10am every Monday and Friday, arriving
in Guam at 4.35am the same day, in the same time zone.
"Guam and the Micronesian islands offer some of the world's best diving, on both reefs and World
War 2 wrecks, while Sapporo is an increasingly popular destination for snow skiers," said Lars Olofsson, General Manager Sales, Marketing
and Operations for World Aviation Systems, Continental's Australian General Sales Agent.
"The flights from Cairns to Guam offer great opportunities for dive holidays, while the onward services to Sapporo offer the options of ski
holidays or even sea-and-ski combinations," Mr Olofsson added.
