Aviation Industry Experts to convene in Stockholm for Routes Leaders Forum

Travel News Asia Thursday, 16 August 2007

Over 250 senior industry leaders representing airlines, airports, governmental authorities, research bodies, banking and investment houses, aerospace industries and service providers are expected to attend the inaugural Routes Leaders Forum at International Fairs in Stockholm, 23-25 September. Delegates will discuss key trends and challenges affecting air transport with an aim to strengthen industry partnerships and cooperation.

The Routes Leaders Forum, titled 'Airlines and Airports - Towards a Common Vision', will focus on four important topics: EU/US open skies, the dynamic growth of China and India, aviation and the environment, and the imminent move of the low-cost carriers into the long-haul sector. It is co-located with Routes, the World Route Development Forum, which this year is expected to attract over 2000 air service development professionals to discuss and plan new air service opportunities.

Commenting on the catalyst for launching the forum, Mike Howarth, Chairman of Routes, said, "Routes is now in its 13th year and the Leaders Forum will provide it with an important new dimension. Although many of the airlines and airports at the event are in competition with each other they are also in the same industry, sharing the same threats and opportunities. So while the network planners and the airport marketers meet and plan their new services at Routes itself, their CEO's and other industry decision makers at the Leaders Forum will try to influence the industry framework as a whole, ensuring profitable and sustainable growth into the future."

Moderated by Professor Rigas Doganis and Ms Marie Ehrling, the Routes Leaders Forum will feature such distinguished speakers as:
