Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Tuesday, 16 October 2007

The five-star Millennium Sukhumvit Bangkok Hotel, which will open its doors this month, is to be re-branded as the Grand Millennium Sukhumvit Bangkok on 1 November 2007.

Located in one of Bangkok's prime central areas on Asoke Road (Sukhumvit Soi 21), the hotel is within easy access to the business district, financial institutions and some of the city's best entertainment spots. With its central location, the hotel is around 30-minutes away from Thailand's new Suvarnabhumi International Airport.

The re-branding of Millennium Sukhumvit is part of Millennium & Copthorne Hotels' commitment to expand the Grand Millennium brand name in the Asia Pacific region. The Grand Millennium is the group's most prestigious and luxurious brand. The Millennium brand deals with upscale and deluxe properties, the Copthorne brand caters to the mid-management of corporates while the Kingsgate brand is aimed at more budget-conscious travelers.

"This highly-anticipated five-star hotel will complement the unique offerings of our other five-star Thai property - the Millennium Resort Patong in Phuket which is part of the giant Phuket Jungceylon Project. This resort is slated to open in November 2007," said Mr Michael Sengol, Chief Operating Officer of Millennium & Copthorne Hotels.

"Grand Millennium Sukhumvit offers all the features and services that a guest would expect in a trendy hotel located in the city centre with an emphasis on personalized services," said Anthony O'Neill, the hotel's General Manager. "The hotel has strengthened its product lines in the recent months during the pre-opening period. We are delighted to position the hotel amongst the finest in Bangkok given the superb business location."

The Grand Millennium Sukhumvit Bangkok features a sail-like glass façade with an atrium and concept floors. Its 325 rooms and suites are spacious and tastefully decorated with contemporary Thai-inspired design. The rooms come with long bath and separate shower, electronic safe, LCD satellite TV, and Internet access.

Guests will also get to appreciate the hotel's unique blend of cutting-edge technology, stylish meeting spaces and warm service. "Proximity" key card access to the rooms, Wi-Fi Internet and an in-room media hub are available.

The hotel's 11 meeting rooms to support small and medium sized functions and banquet facilities total over 2,000 sqm. Its main ballroom is an impressive 500 sqm and can host up to 500 people theatre-style, or 350 people in a banquet-style set-up. It will feature full-length floor-to-ceiling windows to maximise the use of natural light.

The hotel has six restaurants and bars that offer authentic Japanese, Italian, Spanish Tapas, Indian, Cantonese and Thai specialities. Other facilities include a business centre, swimming pool, lifestyle spa (The Antidote) and fitness centre, a golf-putting green, and a multi-storey car park.
