In April 2007, Singapore welcomed 818,000 visitors, registering a marginal growth of 0.2% over the same period last year and setting
a new record high for the month of April. Visitor days were estimated to reach
3 million days, an increase of 11.6% in comparison to
April 2006.
Indonesia (142,000), P.R. China (99,000), India (59,000), Australia (58,000) and Malaysia (51,000) were Singapores top five visitor-generating
markets in April 2007. These markets accounted for 50% of total visitor arrivals for the month. This month also saw the
Philippines registering its highest ever monthly visitor arrivals at 43,000 visitors, while both India and Vietnam registered record highs for visitor arrivals for the month of
April.
Singapore gazetted hotels were estimated to generate
Sin$142.8 million in room revenue, representing an increase of 22.9% over
April 2006. Rates were maintained above Sin$190 for the second consecutive month.
The Average Room Rate (ARR) in April 2007 was estimated at
Sin$192, representing an increase of 20.7% over April 2006. The Average Occupancy
Rate (AOR) for hotels was estimated to have reached 84% in April 2007, posting a 1.4 percentage point increase over April 2006.
