Shanghai’s blue frog Expands to Asia’s Las Vegas - Macau

Travel News Asia Tuesday, 14 August 2007

Shanghai’s popular blue frog brand is expanding internationally to “Asia’s Las Vegas” in Macau.

The highly successful, western-style bar and restaurant concept is opening its first venue outside of Shanghai at The Venetian Macau Resort Hotel, one of the world’s largest casinos.

The blue frog bar & grill is strategically located on the main casino level of The Venetian, which opens its doors on August 28. The stylish 6,500 sq ft, 200 seat venue, will offer all-day dining from breakfast, lunch and dinner to afternoon snacks, wines and cocktails.

“While incorporating the classic elements of blue frog design, the atmosphere will be more dramatic and theatrical, in keeping with the glamour, glitz and excitement of Macau’s casino strip,” said Bob Boyce, founder and CEO of blue horizon hospitality group, which operates seven blue frog bars and restaurants in Shanghai.

blue frog bar & grill features a western-style menu with predominantly American inspired dishes - gourmet burgers and imported steaks, as well as a selection of salads, soups, pastas, appetizers and snacks - all prepared to order from only the finest and freshest ingredients, and served in generous portions.

Central to the new restaurant will be an “on-stage theatre kitchen” featuring an open grill at which chefs will prepare choice steaks, chops, burgers and other grilled menu items as part of the fast paced culinary show.

An Italian espresso bar will serve freshly baked pastries during the day, and transform in the evenings to a dessert and wine bar. The sophisticated, relaxed bar and lounge offers an exhaustive cocktail list and a stylish and inviting scene for business or leisure entertainment.

The blue frog’s signature “hip comfort” will be showcased in the new Macau venue with a décor of wood, stone and steel softened with leather furnishing and warmly lit crystal throughout. This eye-catching venue was designed by internationally acclaimed interior and lighting design firm, Duncan & Miller Design, which is renowned for its distinctive work on the Marriott South Beach and Hotel Za Za in the United States.

blue horizon’s first international venue is located directly opposite to The Venetian’s 15,000-seat entertainment arena, between the 1.2 million square foot conference centre and the hotel, and just around the corner from a permanent Cirque Du Soleil theatre.

The Venetian Macau Resort Hotel styled after Venice, complete with canals, gondolas and replica streets. At 10.5 million sq ft, it claims to be the second largest building in the world and the largest in Asia. It incorporates 3,000 suites, a 1.2 million sq ft convention and exhibition centre, 1,800-seat Cirque Du Soleil theatre, 15,000-seat arena for world class entertainment, and 350 retail outlets including many of the world’s leading brands.
