To
help drive its expansion plans, Marco Polo Hotels has made the following appointments
which are effective end of March, 2007:
Mr.
Henk Meyknecht will take the reins at the Marco Polo Wuhan, China, (opening December) as General Manager. Mr. Meyknecht is no stranger to
China – he is now General Manager of the Marco Polo Shenzhen. He joined Marco Polo Hotels in 2002 as General Manager of the Omni Saigon
Hotel, Vietnam.
Mr. Meyknecht’s career spans over a period of 20 years. He has worked for SAS, Hilton International, Peninsula Hotels and the Inter-Continental
Hotel Group in Europe, United States and Asia. He is a graduate of the Hotel School of Maastricht in the Netherlands and has completed the
Cornell University marketing program.
Taking over in Shenzhen is Mr.
James McStay
Ong, who moves over from the Omni Saigon Hotel, Vietnam. Mr Ong has worked with some of the
most famous hotels in the world including the Westin St. Francis in San Francisco, Caesars Palace in Las Vegas and the Four Seasons hotels in
Hawaii. He has also worked at luxury hotels in the cities of Jakarta, Hong Kong, Honolulu, Wuhan and Cebu. A graduate of the University of the
Philippines, Mr. Ong has also completed the Advanced Management Course of the University of Hong Kong.
Mr.
Peter
Chiu, most recently General Manager of the Marco Polo Xidan, Beijing, takes over at the Omni Saigon Hotel, Vietnam. A veteran of Marco
Polo, Mr. Chiu’s previous appointments include General Manager of the Marco Polo Davao, Philippines and Manager of the Marco Polo Gateway,
Hong Kong.
Mr. Chiu has over 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry working with several renowned hotel groups including Pan Pacific, Mandarin
Oriental, Four Seasons and Sheraton. A graduate of the University of British Columbia, Mr. Chiu is a Certified General Accountant and a Certified
Hospitality Accountant Executive (CHAE).
