Continental Airlines has contributed an additional
US$75 million in cash to its defined benefit pension plans, bringing its total year-to-date contribution to
US$211 million. This contribution exceeds the minimum funding requirement applicable to Continental's plans.
“Our employee pension plans continue to have a high priority,” said Chairman and CEO Larry
Kellner. “We are working hard to fulfill our pension obligations to our employees.”
Continental currently expects to contribute
US$328 million to its pension plans in 2007, significantly exceeding its minimum funding requirement of
US$187 million for the year.
