The Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre has launched the final phase of its
Bayside Lounge, with the opening of its waterfront dining terrace.
The creation of the terrace fulfils the original vision for the Bayside Lounge by providing a seamless connection between the Centre and the city.
Overlooking vibrant Darling Harbour, the beautiful waters of Cockle Bay and the Sydney skyline, the new alfresco dining area is bordered by a
dramatic architectural water feature, reflecting the venue’s harbourside setting.
The Bayside Lounge
has been a key component of the Centre’s ongoing A$50 million refurbishment.
The unique concept aims to provide delegates, exhibitors, organisers and visitors with a chance to take a well-earned break, or a stylish place to
meet and greet. The completed Lounge offers a bar for those looking to chill out over a quiet drink, barista-made coffees for visitors wanting to
recharge and an extensive à la carte menu created by the Centre’s renowned Executive Chef, Detlef Haupt. At night, the terrace and interior
becomes a cocktail party venue where organisers can impress with Sydney’s warm evenings and sunset
skyline.
The new Bayside Lounge terrace area seats 76, while the inside dining area seats 66 people. The Lounge can accommodate 250 people for
cocktails.
As part of the Centre’s ongoing refurbishment, the Bayside Terrace and Bayside Rooms on Level 2 have also been transformed to offer greater
flexibility for small to medium-sized events. Under the changes, the Bayside Terrace’s balcony has been enclosed to increase the room’s
capacity, while the introduction of removable walls between the three Bayside Rooms now provides meeting organisers with an array of options
for breakout groups and meetings.
Meanwhile, the installation of state-of-the art presentation tools, including blackout blinds and drop-down screens and projectors, ensures the
rooms offer world-class facilities as well as their world-class views.
