Tiger Airways is on schedule to start its Singapore-Perth flights from 23 March 2007 after receiving regulatory approval from the Australian
authorities.
“This is great news and reinforces our confidence that the Singapore-Perth route is going to be a big winner for both Tiger Airways and tourism
in Western Australia. We have been getting fantastic response since our announcement, from both the Singapore and Australian market. This is
why we have decided to bring forward plans to fly daily on this route by six months,” said Tiger Airways CEO Tony Davis.
Tiger Airways will start with four flights weekly to Perth from Singapore from 23 March 2007. This will
then be beefed up to daily flights from 1 May 2007 instead of November 2007 as originally planned.
Davis said Australia will become a very important market for Tiger Airways following plans to
set up a company in Australia to operate a
low
fares carrier domestically. A decision is expected to be made soon on which Australian city the airline will be based.
