The
Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has signed an agreement to manage a
new-build hotel in Guangzhou. The hotel will be part of the prestigious TaiKoo Hui mixed-use complex, currently under construction in the Tianhe Central Business
District. The overall project is being developed by Swire Properties and the hotel is scheduled to open in 2010.
Mandarin Oriental, Guangzhou will be part of a 450,000 square metre landmark development which will comprise
premier luxury retail, office space, and a cultural arts centre. The development will be connected to the city’s major
transport systems with direct linkage to Metro Line 1 and Line 3.
Mandarin Oriental, Guangzhou will be designed as an elegant, contemporary hotel, featuring 340 spacious guestrooms
and suites and 70 serviced apartments.
The property will feature six dining and cocktail venues ranging from a chic signature restaurant, an all-day dining
venue, a Cantonese restaurant, a Mandarin Oriental Cake Shop, an elegant Lobby Lounge and a cocktail and
entertainment bar. The hotel will also feature spacious meeting and function facilities, including an extensive 750
square metre ballroom.
The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Guangzhou will offer the
group’s signature holistic rejuvenation and relaxation treatments in a tranquil, meditative setting. Incorporating 10 private treatment rooms, the Spa will provide a
comprehensive range of wellness, beauty and massage programmes. The overall 1,500 square metre spa and health
facilities will also encompass a fully-equipped gymnasium.
The project owner is TaiKoo Hui (Guangzhou) Development Company Limited, in which Swire Properties Limited
holds a 97% majority stake.

Guangzhou is the capital of Guangdong province, an important trading centre and one of the most economically
dynamic and flourishing regions in China. It is also a city surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes, mountains, hot
springs and national parks.
As part of TaiKoo Hui, Mandarin Oriental, Guangzhou will be ideally located in the heart of
the urban district with access to myriad attractions, including shopping, sports, fine dining and entertainment for both
leisure and business travellers. The hotel will be open in time for the 16th Asian Games which will be held in the city in
November 2010.
Mandarin Oriental has also just signed contracts to manage hotels in
Paris and
Taipei.
