Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Monday, 12 November 2007

Travel and hospitality management specialist TMS Asia-Pacific has appointed Andrew Chan as Managing Director - Asia, effective immediately.

Mr Chan who moves up from his previous role as General Manager Asia, will now take full responsibility for all aspects of the company's Asian operation. A key element of Mr Chan's new role will be a focus on the company's development across the region, building on its Singapore base where TMS is now well established.

"In addition to Andrew's management responsibilities, he will play an instrumental role in the design and execution of projects and other activity designed to strengthen the TMS brand in the region, including India," said TMS Chief Executive Officer, Gary Marshall.

Mr Chan's promotion comes at a time when the company is experiencing rapid growth in the region.

Building on its China presence in Shanghai, TMS opened an Hong Kong office in August. Plans in the pipe include a further office in Beijing in early 2008. A Bangkok operation is also on schedule for an end of the year start-up.

Further afield TMS has this year expanded into the Middle East and New Zealand and last July strengthened its UK stance following the signing of a second major partnership agreement with London-based recruitment specialist Collins King & Associates. The move also gained TMS its first entrée into continental Europe via its new partner's The Hague-based (Netherlands) associates.
