The
Preferred Hotel Group has added two hotels in China to its Summit Hotels & Resorts collection in Asia
Pacific. The Dong Fang Hotel in Guangzhou and the Parkyard Hotel in Shanghai
join three existing Summit Hotels & Resorts in Shenzhen and Shanghai.
Dong Fang Hotel is centrally located opposite the Canton Fair Exhibition Centre (Liuhua complex) with a 10-minute walk to the Guangzhou
Railway Station and a 30-minute drive to the airport. Surrounded by the greenery of Liu Hua and Yue Xiu parks, the 699-room hotel was
recently refurbished in 2006. In room technology includes a mobile phone that can be used throughout the hotel to enable guests to receive
calls when they are not in the room, and broadband Internet access. The Dong Fang Convention and Exhibition Centre is
among the largest in
Guangzhou with over 3,000 square miles of space. Other services and facilities include seven restaurants and bars, outdoor pool, fitness
centre and salon.
Recently opened in March 2007, the Parkyard Hotel Shanghai is a contemporary 300-room property located in Shanghai's "Silicon Valley"-
the Pudong Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park. It is a convenient 5-minute drive to the Shanghai New International Expo Center and the Shanghai
Maglev Train Station. Sitting right next to the Metro Station, the hotel is 30-minutes by car from the Pudong International Airport. Services
and facilities include a stylish Asian fusion restaurant with open kitchen offering all day dining, a lobby bar, indoor pool, fitness centre,
massage services, a ballroom and 4 function rooms. The hotel also offers free wireless broadband Internet access throughout the hotel.
"China is key to our expansion strategy and we are pleased to be represented in three key Chinese cities and hopefully another by end of
the year. Both of these Summit hotels are well positioned in their cities for China's increasing MICE business," said Ananya
Narayan, Preferred Hotel Group Asia Pacific's Managing Director.
