Singapore Airlines Cargo
today launches a once-weekly Boeing 747-400 freighter service to the Vietnamese capital of Hanoi.
The new freighter service will operate every Thursday with a routing Singapore-Hanoi-Shanghai-Singapore.
“Vietnam is one of the fastest growing
economies in East Asia. This new freighter service together with the eight times weekly passenger
services, will boost the growing freight business links between Vietnam and its key exports markets in Europe, the US, China and South
East Asia,” said Mr Goh Choon Phong, President of SIA Cargo.
Vietnam’s top export items are crude oil, textile, footwear, coffee and wooden products whilst the country imports machine tools, petroleum,
steel, fabrics and electronics.
The Singapore Airlines Cargo route network now spans 74 cities in 39 countries. It operates a fleet of 14 B747-400s.
