Holiday Inn hotels
are supporting the celebration of extraordinary Australians after signing on for a seventh year as Official Hotel Partner to the National Australia Day Council's
(NADC) Australian of the Year Awards 2008.
Launched
Monday by the Prime Minister at Old Government House in Parramatta, NSW, the search for
the 2008 Australian of the Year, Senior Australian of the Year, Young Australian of the Year and Local
Hero across the country will involve months of nominations and consideration.
Holiday Inn hotels
throughout Australia will be home for the many judges and nominees in the national search for and
lead up to the final announcement of winners on Australia Day 2008.
All Australians are encouraged to nominate worthy unsung heroes as candidates for the Awards by
dropping their entries in to any one of the 17 Holiday Inn hotels across the country.
"The Australian of the Year Awards is a seminal event and one we continue to value our association with. The search for and recognition of
the people who make a difference to our lives is vital to our society, and a chance for us to stop as a nation and celebrate what makes this
country great," said Karin Nielsen, regional director of sales and marketing Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific IHG (InterContinental
Hotels Group), proprietor of the Holiday Inn brand.
