Qantas
has confirmed that Geoff Dixon will continue as Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
on an ongoing contract, replacing his current employment contract which was to expire on 1 July 2007.
The
Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Peter Gregg, whose current contract concludes later this year, has also agreed to remain
in his role on an ongoing contract.
The Chairman of Qantas, Margaret
Jackson said that continuity of leadership was particularly important in the current aviation environment, where
the challenges confronting the industry have never been greater.
"With the airline continuing to face tough operating conditions, with historically high fuel prices and increasing international competition, the Board
is delighted that Geoff and Peter have agreed to continue in their current roles on an ongoing
basis" Ms Jackson said.
