Air Tahiti Nui has
launched a range of luxury stopover packages in Tahiti, priced from just $69 per person, per night, to meet soaring demand from
passengers travelling between Australia, the USA and Europe.
Together with a range of quality hotel partners, the airline now offers stopover stays of up to three nights for the growing number of passengers
who want to experience romantic Tahiti while travelling between Australia and Los Angeles, New York City or Paris.
When Air Tahiti Nui launched non-stop flights from Sydney in July last year, its main aim was to build visitor numbers to Tahiti. It is succeeding, and
recently increased from two weekly flights to three to meet rising demand.
“We are delighted with the strength of our Tahiti business,” said Craig Lee, Regional Director Australia for Air Tahiti Nui. “But we have also
discovered a significant new opportunity with approximately one third of all passengers on our flights from Australia continuing beyond Tahiti to
the US and Europe.
“Travellers have discovered that they can combine their long-haul flights with a stopover in Tahiti, one of the world’s most romantic and desirable
destinations – and they are doing so in increasing numbers.
“For passengers to New York, in particular, we offer not only a refreshing stopover – we offer non-stop service from Tahiti, eliminating the need to
stop in Los Angeles, and enabling passengers to clear US Customs at the end of their journey.”
Air Tahiti Nui’s Tiare Tahiti Stopovers are priced from a low $69 per person, twin share, for one night, staying at the newly-refurbished Sofitel Maeva
Beach on the gateway island of Tahiti.
Other participating properties include the luxurious Radisson Plaza Resort Tahiti (from $79 per person, twin share, per night), the Intercontinental
Resort Tahiti (from $79), the Sheraton Hotel Tahiti and Le Meridien Tahiti (both from $89) and the Intercontinental Resort and Spa Moorea and
Moorea Pearl Resort and Spa (both from $99).
In addition to its own services to the USA and France, Air Tahiti Nui has also joined with carriers including Virgin Atlantic Airways and Alitalia to
create joint fares to the UK and Europe, via New York, and has linked with the Chilean carrier LAN Airlines to offer joint fares from Australia to South
America, via Tahiti.
Air Tahiti Nui departs Sydney every Sunday, Wednesday and Friday at 9.15am, crossing the international dateline and arriving approximately seven
hours later at 8.05 the previous evening.
All of the airline’s flights are operated with three-class Airbus A340-300 aircraft, and every passenger has a personal video screen and satellite
telephone.
