The travel retail and duty free community, representatives of an industry which is worth
around US$25 billion on a global scale, will be gathering in Singapore in May to network, do business and learn more about this thriving industry in the dynamic Asia Pacific region.
The annual TFWA Asia Pacific trade conference and exhibition organised by Tax Free World Association will take place in the Singapore Suntec
Centre from 16th to 19th May.
The event opens with the TFWA Asia Pacific Conference on Tuesday 16th May at which the keynote speaker will be the Rt Hon Mike Moore, former
Prime Minister of New Zealand and former Director General of the World Trade Organisation. In ‘When Asia Roars’ the eminent politician and
economist will study the impact of Asia on world trade and specifically the increasing importance of China.
The Conference will be followed by three topical Workshops on:
• ‘Branding in China’ with original research by ACNielsen China and a presentation of case studies of domestic markets by Young & Rubican Asia
• ‘Targeting the Indian Travel Market’ with recent findings of a study by ACNielsen India and a presentation by PATA on the key drivers behind
outbound travel
• ‘Emerging Product Categories’ with insight provided by the Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation into the effects of changing passenger profiles plus
details of trends in consumption from the Workshop Fashion Agency.
The
conference has attracted some
200 exhibitors who represent international suppliers of prestige and luxury products which are being marketed to travel retail and duty
free shops all over the world – fragrances, cosmetics, jewellery, watches, fashion, accessories, electronics, drinks, tobacco products, gifts and
toys.
The exhibition will open on Tuesday 16th at 1pm and will close on Friday 19th at 1pm. Around 2,000 trade visitors are expected to attend.
